Hi all! Hope you are having a great Friday :) I am taking a little blog break . I went for my last stomach test this morning and haven’t been able to eat much. I also had to fast beforehand so there’s nothing much food wise going on here! I will be back soon, but with a different format. My schedule has been really busy and I feel like my posts could be much better if I had more time to dedicate to them. So I am still going to post, but not 3 times a day. I plan to share more informative and fun posts with you all rather than just my breakfast cereal everyday which felt kind of silly to me :)

I am home resting today and would love to hear what you all have planned for the weekend! Anyone  going to try a new restaurant or recipe this weekend?

Is anyone superstitious about today being that it is 9/9/09? It’s the only time this century these numbers will pop up on the calendar. Some think it’s a lucky day and have planned special events! I didn’t think about it until this morning, but I wish I had thought about it earlier. Oh well, maybe I will have good luck today anyway!?!

Why 9/9/09 is so Special

I had cereal 3 days in a row so it was time to mix it up again! I made French toast with egg whites on raisin bread. It was so sweet and nice for a change :)

Back to work I go…

Today flew by and I am getting ready to relax for the rest of the night before it starts all over again tomorrow! It’s another busy week at work so I am looking forward to some quiet time tonight.

Dinner was turkey meatloaf, baked potato and grilled eggplant. The turkey meatloaf was especially tasty! It has spinach, scallions and mushrooms in it which gave it a nice flavor. I had this plate plus another piece of meatloaf.

Lunch today tasted really good, but left me hungry an hour later. I had a piece of grilled chicken and some crackers to fill me up.  I am going to have a slice of pound cake with Cool Whip  now and call it a night!  Until tomorrow :)

It’s back to work and I am lucky to be able to work from home today! With no long commute taking up my morning, I was able to go for a nice walk and do some strength exercises before getting down to business.

My cereal looked fall like and festive today.

I’ve started adding some veggies back in to my diet so the frst thing I wanted for lunch was a hummus and veggie sandwich. I haven’t had one of these in a while!

I also had a bowl of red grapes.

What is your favorite sandwich to eat for lunch?

Labor Day weekend was fun and busy, but I am sad to see summer leave! We had some sun and some chilly weather this weekend and fall is def in the air.

I had a BBQ with my family Saturday night. There was grilled chicken, ribs, broccoli, eggplant, potatoes and tomato salad. There was so much food and I was stuffed after dinner :)  BBQ’s can be healthy if you choose carefully. Grilled potatoes are real TASTY and are a good alternative to potato salad that’s usually made with tons of mayo. I especially like them because I can’t eat mayo (allergy!).  And, you really can’t beat grilled veggies! I’ll miss them come winter :(

Sunday afternoon John and I decided to walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. We walked from one historic site to the next including…

The State House

and Paul Revere’s grave stone.

This was our tour guide who had lots of stories to tell!

John and I saw the movie Extract Saturday night. It was funny and entertaining, but the story line was a little out of the ordinary. Have you seen this movie? What did you think of it?

It was really nice to have Monday off! I spent most of Monday relaxing then I was off to Mohegan Sun to see Journey in concert. They were fantastic! I think my friend and I were some of the youngest people there, but it was fun! There were a lot of food choices at Mohegan Sun. We choose to eat at Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burger Palace. It was the best burger I had in a while. It was the perfect portion (I was full, but not stuffed afterwards) and I did not feel like I was eating a fast food burger at all. The restaruant did not serve any seafood so I got my french fry fix! The fries were crispy, just how I like them :)

Here are the rest of the weekend’s EATS:

Saturday and Sunday’s bowl of cereal were identical so I didn’t snap a photo of Sunday’s Rice Chex with rice milk.

I also had some chips that are not pictured with the hot dog.

Lunch today made up for all the bad lunches I ate this week at my desk!

A Whole Foods opened near my house and I was so excited to go. There are a couple of other Whole Foods around, but they are not as big as this store! It has a lot of pre-made food  that all looked so GOOD and a separate cafe area. I got a wrap with hummus, salad, garlic flavored pickles and Falafel!! I never had Falafel before and was so excited to try it :) It was DELISH!!!

All wrapped up.

My sister, Abby, is visiting from New York and wanted me to take a picture of her lunch too! She had a ham sandwich with avocado on rye bread.

I bought some new food items at Whole Foods to try.

I’ve had these potato chips before and they are my favorite! I also bought a pack of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips snack sized bags. I’m really excited to try the roasted veggie pizza. It has no cheese :)

I’m off to do some shopping now!

How are you all doing? I got an early start to my Saturday! I wanted to take a yoga class this morning, but the studio I go to is closed for the holiday weekend :(  Maybe I will just pop in a yoga DVD…

Breakfast was waffles topped with banana slices. I ate the rest of the banana on the side. Day 2 without cereal for breakfast! Let’s see how long I can keep this going!

Last night’s dinner was DELISH! I sauteed garlic, tomato and broccoli with olive oil and ate it over pasta with grilled chicken.

The garlic and tomato getting chopped up.

After the garlic was browned I took it out of the pan and then sauteed the tomato.

Next the broccoli was added in. I used frozen broccoli so when it was heated through I added in the garlic, tomato and cooked pasta and drizzled olive oil on top.

Time to do some yoga then I’m off to do some shopping this afternoon. Hope your weekend got off to a great start.

Thank goodness the weekend is almost here! I cannot wait to start the 3 day weekend!! No big plans for me, but it will be nice to have the time off after a hectic work week.

Lunch was pretty much whatever was hanging around today! There was no time to leave the office for lunch so I had this soup that has been at my desk since Tuesday.

The veggies were hiding…

I also had a slice of pound cake. Not the best lunch, but it was quick and it’s Friday so anything goes right!?!

I’m hoping there will be some grilling this holiday weekend :)  Grilled veggies, corn on the cobb… Oh time now to get back to work!!

What are your plans for the long weekend?

I woke up before the sun this morning! I looked out the window and all I saw was darkness. It was pitch black outside. I was disappointed I had to wait about an hour to go out for a walk until it lightened up a bit. My neighborhood is really safe, but I still don’t like walking when it’s that dark out.  At least it gave me time to make lunch and respond to some e-mails while I waited for the sun to wake up!! I finally headed out the door around 6 a.m. for a 2-mile walk. I also snuck in 10 minutes of  ab work. What a productive morning already!!

No cereal for me this morning! I couldn’t even think about eating cereal today. I think I had my fill of it, well for now anyway.  Instead I toasted up a slice of French bread from Panera.

I had one half with grape jelly

Blog Lunch 8 28 002

… and the other half with hummus, my peanut butter (allergy!) stand-in :)

Blog Lunch 8 28 003

I almost forgot to snap a pic of my orange juice before I drank it all, oops.

Random Question of the Day: If you choose any decade to live in which would it be?

I would go back to the 20′s or maybe the 50′s. Such a big decision, haha!

Happy Friday :)

What a hectic two days it has been! Work is in its “busiest” season and has been a bit crazy lately. Yesterday I had a meeting over lunch so I couldn’t snap a pic of my EATS. I can tell you what I ate though, which isn’t nearly as exciting as a pic but will have to do! I had a salad (greens, tomato, cucumber and onion) with grilled chicken and light Italian dressing on the side from a local restaurant. A mini bag of microwave popcorn was my afternoon snack.

After work I went to John’s. We made quick egg sandwiches for dinner before doing yet another fantasy football draft. The draft started at 10:30pm and we didn’t finish until midnight so I was pretty tired this morning. It was a lot of fun though and I can’t wait for the season to start!

You can see the draft happening on my computer screen. Everyone gets 1 minute and 30 seconds to make their pick  in each round of the draft so I was anxiously awaiting my turn deciding what player to choose.

Blog 9 3 010

My draft cheat sheets with the player rankings were a big help!

Blog 9 3 012

Oh and of course the egg sandwich. I sliced up a tomato and had some ketchup on mine. I also had some potato chips.

Today’s EATS…

I was running late this morning so this cereal I had in my car came in handy! Does anyone else keep snacks in their cars? I’m always in my car going somewhere so I sometimes keep some snacks in there for days like today. I ate the cereal, but not the rice milk. I just wasn’t in the mood for it!

Blog 9 3 015

Lunch was a turkey and hummus sandwich on a potato roll eaten at my desk. I also had some canned peaches that I had at my desk (yes, I keep snacks at my desk too!) and a bag of baked potato chips from the caferteria.

This chip bag was larger than normal, but was only 1/4 filled with about 12 chips in it. When I first opened the bag it looked like someone already ate half of it!

A banana was this afternoon’s snack.

Blog 9 3 032

By the time I got home tonight I was exhausted and a little cranky! I didn’t sleep much last night and had a really busy day. I decided to skip the workout I had planned on doing and save it for the morning instead when I’m wide awake with lots of energy!

For dinner I had a hamburger sauteed with onion and mushrooms and sweet potato fries. I went bunless on the burger, but was still hungry after dinner so I toasted up a potato roll and ate it plain. It was still good though and hit the spot!

Blog 9 3 041

Dessert was a slice of poundcake with coolwhip on top. I ate it before I could take a photo. Guess I was still hungry!

I’m off to relax now… TGIAF!!!
