Sorry I’ve been missing, but it has been a real busy couple of days. I will post a full recap tonight! Hope your week has been a good one

I woke up EARLY this morning (5am!) so I could get a workout in. I woke up just before the alarm was about to go off
I rather wake up naturally then to the blaring sound of the alarm. Once a week I have to be at work by 8am for a meeting. On these days I like to get everything ready (lunch, etc.) at night so I’m not rushing around like crazy and can fit in a workout without being late.
I wasn’t too hungry for breakfast this morning, but ate some cereal anyway around 6:30am. If I left without eating I know I would be starving right in the middle of my meeting and wouldn’t be able to concentrate
I’m finally getting tired of cereal. (It’s about time, huh?) I’ll have to find something new for breakfast to replace the cereal a few times a week.

The pumpkin in the pic is from the veggie garden. When I woke up it was 52 degrees outside! It seemed fitting to have the pumpkin in the pic since we are having such COOL weather.
This morning’s workout was 30 minutes of strength exercises. I didn’t end up doing any yoga last night and wasn’t really feeling it this morning. Maybe tomorrow will feel more like a yoga day?
It’s just before 7am and I need to leave so I’m not late!!
Do you get your lunch, clothes, etc. ready at night to make for an easier morning?

Exercise or a Movie?

I don’t know about you, but I always feel like I am rushing to get somewhere.
Need. To. Relax.
If I’m not too tired later tonight I am going to do some more YOGA. It worked wonders on Monday for me. I felt relaxed and full of energy
I have a feeling though it may have to wait until tomorrow morning because I feel ready for bed!
I had an appointment after work and no time to cook anything so I grabbed some leftovers from last night and was on my way. Sorry, nothing exciting to report about dinner except that I was glad to have leftovers!
Lunch today was DELISH! My sandwich was filled with hummus roasted peppers and chicken.

It was one of those days where I felt hungry ALL day long. I ate my sandwich around 11am (too early for lunch!). After eating it I was surprisingly content so I didn’t eat anything else. Around 1pm I was famished again. I wanted cake, cookies or anything sweet really, but wanted to eat something that was a little healthy for me. I chose Oh’s cereal. Now there are def cereals out there that are a lot better for you, but this hit the spot. It was sweet and I felt like I was eating dessert! Oh’s does contain some added vitamins so I guess it was better than eating cake or cookies

I had this bowl x2. By the time I was finished I had about 2 servings of cereal with rice milk.

Today’s snacks were a fruit cup around 4pm and this piece of poundcake after dinner. (I guess I needed to eat some CAKE today!)

Tonight’s big decision is whether to watch a movie or get some exercise in. Hmmm…..

September is here and so is the COOL weather
It’s almost time to start cooking homemade soups and dinners in the oven instead of on the grill. Apple picking season is just about here too and I am looking forward to making applesauce from the apples I pick right off the trees! Last fall was the first time I experimented with making homemade applesauce and I really liked it.
Today is a super busy day at work (hence the late breakfast post!), but I am not minding it so much since I woke up in the best mood
I had the usual bowl cereal for breakfast (Rice Chex with rice milk) in a banana yellow colored bowl! I also ate a banana on my drive in to work.

Hope your September is off to a great start!

The day flew by! I hope the rest of the week does too since I’m looking forward to the long weekend. I can’t believe tomorrow is the start of September. Fall like weather made an appearance today
I managed to squeeze in 20 minutes of yoga and 10 minutes of ab work. I like starting the week off with some kind of exercise. Hopefully I can fit in 2-3 more workouts this week….
Tonight’s dinner Eats were breaded chicken wings, roasted pepper salad and toasted potatoes.

The picture of my potato seemed to have disappeared from my camera. It was a white baked potato, sliced and put in the toaster oven to get crispy.
It was soup for lunch! It seemed fitting with the cool weather. I had reduced-sodium beef and vegetable soup.

I also snacked on a 100 calorie bag of microwave popcorn while working.

I’m off to John’s now to watch last night’s episodes of Entourage and Hung that we missed because we were at Foxwoods. Hope you had a FUN Monday
See you in the morning!

Take Note

Good Monday morning! My week’s off to a busy start already. I had the first of two tests done on my stomach this morning and couldn’t eat or drink anything beforehand. When I got home I was surprisingly not crazy hungry. Most days I wake up hungry, but I was happy today was not one of those days. I made a grilled ham and egg white sandwich on a thick slice of French bread for breakfast when I got home.

I also ate a nectarine while uploading the pics for this post so I could snap a photo of it.
Now that breakfast is posted I can fill you in on my weekend! Saturday was spent playing BINGO and roulette at Foxwoods with my mom and John. None of us came home winners and it was getting a little frustrating
John and I decided to go back to Foxwoods on Sunday to try our luck at BINGO and roulette again, but it was not our lucky weekend. At least we had fun!
Here’s are some highlights of this weekend’s EATS
Ham and tomato sandwich on rye bread with mustard.

Tea with lemon and honey and a cinnamon roll from Panera. I had just a few bites!

Saturday night’s EATS were a grilled steak dinner with corn on the cob and asparagus.

Both Saturday and Sunday I had the usual bowl of cereal for breakfast- Corn Chex on Saturday and Rice Chex on Sunday!
Sunday afternoon at Foxwoods John and I ate at Stadium Sports Bar and Grill. I had the chicken fajitas. They were excellent!

I was a little hesistant at first to order the chicken fajitas because they also had shrimp fajitas on the menu and I was worried that they would be cooked together. I told the waitress I had a shellfish allergy and she said they would cook my chicken in a separate pan. When the bill came I was happy to see she did make note of my ALLERGY

It’s so nice when restaurants are accomodating to allergies
The plan is to get A LOT of WORK done this afternoon and to find some time for a little YOGA…

Summery Pink Fingers and Toes
Posted by Anna under Dinner, Lunch | Tags: Grill, HomeCooking |Leave a Comment
Today was a great day, but I am happy to be home relaxing now
I ventured out during lunch this afternoon for a manicure and pedicure. I have been meaning to do this for over a week now! I got a summery pink color on my fingers and toes. Since this is a food blog I thought it best to leave out a close up photo of my feet!

Dinner was DELISH! My EATS were crispy sweet potato fries, fresh picked tomatoes from the garden seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and EVOO and grilled chicken legs.

I had a couple more slices of tomato and many more fries! For dessert I had a piece of homemade zucchini bread and tea.
Lunch today was not so exciting! I only have an hour lunch break so I choose a mani/pedi over a nice lunch. I had hummus on raisin toast (yesterday’s Plan B!). This may be a strange combo, but I really l ike it. The sweetness from the raisins adds a lot of flavor to the bland tasting hummus. I use original hummus so there really is not much flavor to it.

I didn’t eat the banana in the pic with my breakfast so I ate it with lunch instead. This afternoon’s snacks were a small bag of potato chips and this orange.

There will be an early wake up call for me tomorrow. I’m leaving around 7:30am for Foxwoods to play BINGO and gamble. Now this is later than I wake up for work, but early for a Saturday! I’m going to squeeze in a little exercise tonight (20 minutes of strength training) then it’s bedtime! Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

All My Favorites Foods
Posted by Anna under Breakfast, Dessert, Dinner | Tags: CEREAL, HomeCooking, Rice Milk |1 Comment
I’m eating breakfast at my desk as I’m writing this post. I went back to an old favorite this morning- Kix, rice milk and a banana.

Friday came quick for me this week! I couldn’t fit in a manicure yesterday during lunch so I am hoping to do that today. It’s nice to do something a little fun and different on a Friday
Last night for dinner I had another favorite, stuffed meatloaf. You can find the recipe on the “My Eats” page. This is my second favorite dinner. Breaded porkchops are my first fav which I had this week too!

As always, I went back for seconds!
For dessert I had an apple square from Guarino’s Pastry Shop. Apple pie is my favorite dessert so I was excited to eat it! I cut the square and only ate half at first, but who was I kidding I ended up going back for the second half and ate the full square. Here’s the first half…

NEWS WORTHY
Have you seen this article? Americans eat 22 teaspoons of sugar a day, according to this report. It’s recommended that women eat no more than 6 teaspoons a day and men 9. This guidline does not apply to natural sugars found in fruit, veggies and dariy, the article says.
Do you think you eat more than the suggested 6 or 9 teaspoons a day?
I’m assuming there are days when I eat more than 6 teaspoons of sugar, but I would have to pay closer attention to find out how much sugar I actually consume. I don’t drink soda or fruit juices with added sugar and purposely do not eat cereals high in sugar on a regular basis so I think I’m headed in the right direction!

I was eating my soup outside today with a coworker who ordered a salad. A bee came along and liked our food so much that he chased us away and we had to go inside to finish the rest of our lunch. We kept covering our food since the bee almost landed on it several times. I prefer to eat outside, but this was not relaxing at all!
I went to the NY Deli for lunch. As always it was great! I ordered the chicken and pasta soup. It had a good amount of chunky carrots and celery in it so I was happy to get a little VEGGIES in!

I also ate the little bag of Oyster crakers that came with the soup. This morning I snacked on a fruit cup and had a serving of pretzel Goldfish. Here are a few of them…

I’ve spent all morning catching up on work after my day off yesterday, but I’m still not entirely caught up yet so I better get back to it!!

Good morning! Where in the home stretch of the week and I am looking forward to the weekend. I have a lot to accomplish though before I can call it a week! I left for work extra early today to catch up on e-mails that piled up yesterday while I was out of the office. Before I left home I had Corn Chex and rice milk in my flower mug.

I left in such a hurry this morning that I didn’t pack a lunch or any snacks. I have some fruits cups that I keep at my cube and some hummus and bread in the fridge here at work. That will be Plan B. I am going to try to go out for lunch today and maybe sneak in a quick manicure while I am out
What are your lunch plans today?
