Labor Day weekend was fun and busy, but I am sad to see summer leave! We had some sun and some chilly weather this weekend and fall is def in the air.

I had a BBQ with my family Saturday night. There was grilled chicken, ribs, broccoli, eggplant, potatoes and tomato salad. There was so much food and I was stuffed after dinner :)  BBQ’s can be healthy if you choose carefully. Grilled potatoes are real TASTY and are a good alternative to potato salad that’s usually made with tons of mayo. I especially like them because I can’t eat mayo (allergy!).  And, you really can’t beat grilled veggies! I’ll miss them come winter :(

Sunday afternoon John and I decided to walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. We walked from one historic site to the next including…

The State House

and Paul Revere’s grave stone.

This was our tour guide who had lots of stories to tell!

Blog Labor Day Wknd 026

John and I saw the movie Extract Saturday night. It was funny and entertaining, but the story line was a little out of the ordinary. Have you seen this movie? What did you think of it?

It was really nice to have Monday off! I spent most of Monday relaxing then I was off to Mohegan Sun to see Journey in concert. They were fantastic! I think my friend and I were some of the youngest people there, but it was fun! There were a lot of food choices at Mohegan Sun. We choose to eat at Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burger Palace. It was the best burger I had in a while. It was the perfect portion (I was full, but not stuffed afterwards) and I did not feel like I was eating a fast food burger at all. The restaruant did not serve any seafood so I got my french fry fix! The fries were crispy, just how I like them :)

Here are the rest of the weekend’s EATS:

Saturday and Sunday’s bowl of cereal were identical so I didn’t snap a photo of Sunday’s Rice Chex with rice milk.

I also had some chips that are not pictured with the hot dog.

Lunch today made up for all the bad lunches I ate this week at my desk!

A Whole Foods opened near my house and I was so excited to go. There are a couple of other Whole Foods around, but they are not as big as this store! It has a lot of pre-made food  that all looked so GOOD and a separate cafe area. I got a wrap with hummus, salad, garlic flavored pickles and Falafel!! I never had Falafel before and was so excited to try it :) It was DELISH!!!

All wrapped up.

My sister, Abby, is visiting from New York and wanted me to take a picture of her lunch too! She had a ham sandwich with avocado on rye bread.

Blog Lunch 9 5 007

I bought some new food items at Whole Foods to try.

Blog Lunch 9 5 011

I’ve had these potato chips before and they are my favorite! I also bought a pack of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips snack sized bags. I’m really excited to try the roasted veggie pizza. It has no cheese :)

I’m off to do some shopping now!

What a hectic two days it has been! Work is in its “busiest” season and has been a bit crazy lately. Yesterday I had a meeting over lunch so I couldn’t snap a pic of my EATS. I can tell you what I ate though, which isn’t nearly as exciting as a pic but will have to do! I had a salad (greens, tomato, cucumber and onion) with grilled chicken and light Italian dressing on the side from a local restaurant. A mini bag of microwave popcorn was my afternoon snack.

After work I went to John’s. We made quick egg sandwiches for dinner before doing yet another fantasy football draft. The draft started at 10:30pm and we didn’t finish until midnight so I was pretty tired this morning. It was a lot of fun though and I can’t wait for the season to start!

You can see the draft happening on my computer screen. Everyone gets 1 minute and 30 seconds to make their pick  in each round of the draft so I was anxiously awaiting my turn deciding what player to choose.

Blog 9 3 010

My draft cheat sheets with the player rankings were a big help!

Blog 9 3 012

Oh and of course the egg sandwich. I sliced up a tomato and had some ketchup on mine. I also had some potato chips.

Today’s EATS…

I was running late this morning so this cereal I had in my car came in handy! Does anyone else keep snacks in their cars? I’m always in my car going somewhere so I sometimes keep some snacks in there for days like today. I ate the cereal, but not the rice milk. I just wasn’t in the mood for it!

Blog 9 3 015

Lunch was a turkey and hummus sandwich on a potato roll eaten at my desk. I also had some canned peaches that I had at my desk (yes, I keep snacks at my desk too!) and a bag of baked potato chips from the caferteria.

This chip bag was larger than normal, but was only 1/4 filled with about 12 chips in it. When I first opened the bag it looked like someone already ate half of it!

A banana was this afternoon’s snack.

Blog 9 3 032

By the time I got home tonight I was exhausted and a little cranky! I didn’t sleep much last night and had a really busy day. I decided to skip the workout I had planned on doing and save it for the morning instead when I’m wide awake with lots of energy!

For dinner I had a hamburger sauteed with onion and mushrooms and sweet potato fries. I went bunless on the burger, but was still hungry after dinner so I toasted up a potato roll and ate it plain. It was still good though and hit the spot!

Blog 9 3 041

Dessert was a slice of poundcake with coolwhip on top. I ate it before I could take a photo. Guess I was still hungry!

I’m off to relax now… TGIAF!!!

Good Monday morning! My week’s off to a busy start already. I had the first of two tests done on my stomach this morning and couldn’t eat or drink anything beforehand. When I got home I was surprisingly not crazy hungry. Most days I wake up hungry, but I was happy today was not one of those days.  I made a grilled ham and egg white sandwich on a thick slice of French bread for breakfast when I got home.

Blog 8 31 045

I also ate a nectarine while uploading the pics for this post so I could snap a photo of it.

Now that breakfast is posted I can fill you in on my weekend! Saturday was spent playing BINGO and roulette at Foxwoods with my mom and John. None of us came home winners and it was getting a little frustrating ;) John and I decided to go back to Foxwoods on Sunday to try our luck at BINGO and roulette again, but it was not our lucky weekend. At least we had fun!

Here’s are some highlights of this weekend’s EATS

Both Saturday and Sunday I had the usual bowl of cereal for breakfast- Corn Chex on Saturday and Rice Chex on Sunday!

Sunday afternoon at Foxwoods John and I ate at Stadium Sports Bar and Grill. I had the chicken fajitas. They were excellent!

Blog 8 31 034

I was a little hesistant at first to order the chicken fajitas because they also had shrimp fajitas on the menu and I was worried that they would be cooked together. I told the waitress I had a shellfish allergy and she said they would cook my chicken in a separate pan. When the bill came I was happy to see she did make note of my ALLERGY

Blog 8 31 035

It’s so nice when restaurants are accomodating to allergies :)

The plan is to get A LOT of WORK done this afternoon and to find some time for a little YOGA…

I was eating my soup outside today with a coworker who ordered a salad. A bee came along and liked our food so much that he chased us away and we had to go inside to finish the rest of our lunch. We kept covering our food since the bee almost landed on it several times. I prefer to eat outside, but this was not relaxing at all!

I went to the NY Deli  for lunch. As always it was great! I ordered the chicken and pasta soup. It had a good amount of chunky carrots and celery in it so I was happy to get a little VEGGIES in!

Blog Lunch SOUP 8 27 007

I also ate the little bag of Oyster crakers that came with the soup.  This morning I snacked on a fruit cup and had a serving of pretzel Goldfish. Here are a few of them…

I’ve spent all morning catching up on work after my day off yesterday, but I’m still not entirely caught up yet so I better get back to it!!

I decided to stay home from work today and just rest since I have not been feeling well. It was a much needed day of relaxation!! I did make it out to meet some friends for dinner, but other than that I stayed in bed for the majority of the day :)  Sorry for the lack of posting today, but I did captured today’s EATS and last night’s dinner to share with you so let’s backtrack a bit…

Last night after work I headed to John’s. He had caught a bad cold and stayed home sick from work yesterday. When I got to his house dinner was already cooking in the oven! I peeked inside the oven to find breaded porkchops (which is my favorite home cooked dinner, but I don’t think he knew that). We had rice and John fried up the leftover breadcrumb mixture with egg to have on the side. It was DELISH!

For Me 021

Again, no veggies because of my sick stomach. I did have a nectarine for a snack earlier in the afternoon to get some more fruit in.

This morning I had Rice Chex with rice milk! This bowl did a good job of settling my stomach.

For Me 026

I ate breakfast around 9am and went back to bed. I didn’t get up for lunch until around 1:30. I had a bowl of Campbell’s Select Harvest Chicken and Long Grain Rice soup. I like this brand because it has less sodium than I have found in other soups and has no MSG or artificial flavors.

For Me 038

I had some Wild Harvest organic Black Bean Tortilla Chips on the side. I really don’t know how many chips I actually ate, but I had quite a few more than what you see here on the napkin!

For Me 040

For Me 041

I enjoyed the company of a few friends tonight over dinner at Papa Razzi. I have never dined at this restaurant before and was surprised at how good it was. I started with a piece of bread. I was a little oily, but that’s what made it so good!

For Me 062

My plan going into dinner was to skip dishes with tomato sauce. I love tomato sauce so it was hard for me to pass up, but I didn’t want to further aggravate my stomach. I ordered  the chicken and broccoli over bowtie pasta sauteed in garlic and EVOO. This dish was so tasty! I especially liked the big slices of garlic in it.

For Me 065

I was full after finishing this enitre plate :) When I got home I somehow felt a little hungry though and had a slice of homemade zucchini bread for dessert.

My day of resting is almost over, but I am going to enjoy a couple more hours in bed watching some episodes of last season’s Weeds. I haven’t seen the new season yet and need to catch up! Good night.

I got a late start this morning and didn’t get around to eating breakfast until 10am. I slept in a little and am glad I did because for once I’m not tired at all!! I knew I would be meeting a friend for lunch just before noon so I didn’t want to eat too much. I had a bowl of Corn Chex with rice milk.

Blog Monday 8 24 032

I met my friend at a local pizza shop near my house for lunch. I work from home on Mondays so it was nice not to eat alone! I was starving so my mind wasn’t thinking salad or anything healthy! I ordered the hamburger sub with lettuce tomato and pickles and ate it all :)

Blog Monday 8 24 045

Now that I’m full it’s back to work for the rest of the afternoon! Hope your week is off to a great start.

I wish I was in someone else’s shoes (literally) this evening at the gym!

I left home wearing FLIP FLOPS thinking my sneakers were in the car. I didn’t go to look for my sneakers until I was already at the gym and they were no where to be found!! I had cleaned my car out before this past weekend’s trip to NY and must have taken my sneakers out :(

I wasn’t going to give up so I worked out in my flip flops!  Occasionally I did feel like people were staring at my feet, but I was probably just being silly! It would be too dangerous to run on the treadmill in flip flops  so I chose the bike instead. That was a smart choice for me because I trip  all the time walking down the street over my own two feet!

Todays workout: 30 minutes on the bike

After the gym I picked up some Indian food  for John and I. I ordered the Pindi Chana (chickpeas in a spicy sauce) and John got the Chicken Vindaloo (chicken and potatoes in a HOT sauce). It came with rice, but I didn’t have any. I don’t really like rice too much and we got a ton of naan. Naan is so good!! We ordered plain, garlic and onion naan. The onion was my favorite! It was a sweet red onion baked in the bread that was not potent at all.

My first plate with onion naan

My second plate with garlic naan

I didn’t take a pick of my THIRD plate (it was really tiny).  I had one more little piece of onion naan with some chickpeas on it.

Here are my afternoon EATS:

Since I really didn’t eat breakfast I had some later in the day. When I said earlier that I was all out of cereal, I really meant I was all out of Kix! I forgot about the Puffins I had bought. I gave them another try, but I’m still not crazy about them. I think they are too plain. I added some raisins, but it needed something more.

Blog Dinner 8 17 015

I also had a 100 calorie snack bag of microwave popcorn and finished the peach from this morning.

Blog Dinner 8 17 026

Today was kind of a strange eating day. I got hungry at odd times and it threw me all off! Lunch for breakfast and breakfast in the middle of the afternoon?? Do you get hungry at the same time every day?

I am going to catch up on my sleep now since I had to wake up so early this morning. See you in the AM!

Yesterday was filled with fun in NY!

I spent some time in the morning laying in the sun, practicing swimming in the pool (I think the swimming lessons are working?) then it was off to a baseball game! John and I stayed at his parents house for the weekend.

No day can get off to a good start without breakfast though. I had 2 slices of potato bread, an egg over easy and a couple of slices of lean bacon. Weekend breakfasts are my fav!! So tasty :)

Mets Gam Aug 15 133

I knew I wanted to eat A LOT at the game later in the afternoon so I kept lunch on the lighter side.  I had some pasta salad (made by John’s mom) with diced green and red pepper, onion, apple and Italian dressing (no mayo for me!). For protein, I rolled up 2 pieces of deli turkey. After finishing this plate, I had 2 more scoops of pasta salad.

Mets Gam Aug 15 151

We headed to Queens later in the afternoon to catch a 4:10pm game. The new home of the METS, Citi Field, is awesome :)  This is my second time visiting the Field this summer.

Mets Gam Aug 15 168

One of the perks that I am not used to because Fenway Park does not have it is cup holders!! These are very handy when trying to juggle a hotdog, fries, etc. and trying not to spill your drink all over yourself ;)

Mets Gam Aug 15 165

John and I split everything which made it easier to taste all the food.

One of the vendors at the baseball park is Blue Smoke. Their food was excellent and there was no fish or seafood on the menu so I could get my fried food fix in.  Since I don’t cook fried food at home and don’t order it at restaurants, baseball games are really the only time I splurge on fried foods. As I mentioned before, I have found that most restaurants fry fish and/or seafod in the same oil with chicken, fries, etc. so it’s never an option for me due to  my allergies.

Blue Smoke also has a restaurant in NYC.  I have not been to the restaurant, but if you have been let me know if you liked it.

Fries

Mets Gam Aug 15 160

BBQ wings (also from Blue Smoke). I had 2 wings.

Mets Gam Aug 15 161

And a soft, hot pretzel (from a different vendor). It was so fresh and doughy:)

Mets Gam Aug 15 183

Not pictured is a sausage with peppers and onion on a sub roll that John and I also shared. It was a HOT day so we decided to take a break from the sun and ate the sub standing in the shade in the food area of the field. I was trying not to spill all the peppers and onions all over myself so I hand no free hands to fish for my camera in my purse.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as I am! I’m off now to start my Sunday (with some breakfast of course!)

I prefer to bring my lunch to work, but today I didn’t. I was too busy to go out for lunch so I bought it in the cafeteria which I know is never a good idea!! My chicken sandwich tasted good, but left me with a tummy ache!

Blog lunch chicken 002

There was lettuce and tomato on the sandwich and I added a little mustard.

This afternoon I had some baked potato chips at my desk which did a good job at setttling my stomach :(

It’s a rainy, overcast day today so taking a walk during lunch was not an option. But, these kinds of days are always very productive for me workwise!

Do you ever use your lunch hour to fit in some exercise?
